2016 will be the 125th year of the Burwarton Show society, and plans for the event on Thursday 4 August 2016 are full steam ahead, with a packed programme lined up with entertainment for all the family, making it a must-visit, one day show.

Speaking at the society AGM, Chairman of the show Mike Bradbury said that 2015 has been one of the best yet, but this year is set to be bigger and better, with a series of events planned to celebrate the special 125th anniversary of the society.

“Reports from all involved in the show have confirmed it was another success. That is all down to the excellent support we receive at Burwarton from the many trade stands, livestock and horse exhibitors and volunteers who get involved in our one-day show. Despite the challenging market conditions of the agricultural industry at present, we’re still seeing unrivalled support, and that is something we’re extremely grateful for,” he added.

“The show would not be the success it is year-on-year without the diligent, passionate support of the show committee and stewards that totals nearly 500 volunteers. So, I’d really like to extend my heart-felt thanks to everyone who makes Burwarton Show the one-day spectacle it is.”

Looking ahead to 2016, there is a packed out main ring entertainment programme, areas dedicated to local food, craft, shopping, handicraft, and conservation, with hands-on demonstrations running throughout the day in all areas of the show.

The well-supported livestock classes and horse section with numerous competition rings is a massive draw for many visitors to Burwarton, and this year will be no different, with extra classes planned and more breeds on show than ever before.

The sheep shearing competition that has been a massive success over the last couple of years is now affiliated to the main shearing show circuit and expecting a large number of entrants, which is a great spectacle for visitors.

To mark the 125th year of the society, there will be a special lunch on Sunday 7 August, after the show, to celebrate this tremendous milestone.

Make sure you have Thursday 4 August in your diary for a first-class, family day out at Burwarton that celebrates all things agriculture and countryside.
