The Society has recently presented Oak Farm, Ditton Priors, with two young Hereford X heifer calves to be reared by the group of young people with learning difficulties who attend the farm on a daily basis.  Named Buttercup and Daisy, the calves are thriving in their new environment and are already providing the group with much enjoyment.  Stuart Toulson, who has run Oak Farm for 25 years, stated that “the calves and all the other animals on the farm give the people here a sense of responsibility,  this responsibility then turns into being able to become responsible for themselves which can only be a good thing.  Livestock can be a great aid to people’s development so that the addition of the calves has many beneficial facets to everyone here”.

Society Chairman, Michael Bradbury, commented “We are delighted to support such an excellent local good cause and wish Stuart and his team much success in rearing the calves through the winter months.”
